Learn to swordfight in our Intro to Historical Fencing (also known as HEMA).
In this course you will learn the basics of fencing with the Medieval two-handed longsword, renaissance rapier and dagger, sword and buckler, smallsword, saber, and more! The class focuses on developing the essential footwork, technique, and tactics, needed to become a historical fencer. Fencing is a fun and exciting sport, a great workout, and we welcome all skill levels and athletic abilities.
No prior experience needed! Participants must be at least 15 years of age, and any student 17 or under must have parent's or legal guardian's permission. Discounted registration Fee: $145 (includes equipment rental of the swords used in class - fencing mask separate). Space is limited!
What you'll need to join: Due to COVID protocols, participants must show proof of vaccination, and provide their own fencing mask in order to participate. Fencing masks may be purchased through the club at a discounted rate here:

Additional requirements: Students will also be required to sign a waiver, code of conduct and wear the appropriate athletic attire covering any exposed skin, which consists of a long-sleeved shirt, full-length pants (quarter-length pants with knee-high socks also acceptable), and a pair of gloves: leather, gardening, work gloves are all acceptable.
